Help Me Fund A Van For My Homeless Sister

Donation protected

My name is Natalie and I want to help my sister and her 3 rescue dogs find a stable place to live again.

The pandemic has been bad for everyone, for my sister it meant losing her 3 jobs and with that, her apartment.

My sister and her dogs have been homeless for over a year now, they are moving from couch to couch. She has lived in a caravan without water and electricity for 2 months because it beats sleeping on the beach. It still landed her in the ER because it was so cold in the caravan in winter, that she got a bladder infection that went to her kidneys and made her really sick.

We reside on Lanzarote, when the pandemic hit all jobs were gone and there are still no jobs here. She gets 350 euro per month from the government. For now, it has been prolonged until 30 September 2021. After that, we don’t know.

She started teaching English online (cause she has her papers) this is slowly picking up giving her a tiny income to replace the government aid.

There are rooms for rent here, but nobody accepts dogs. The same goes for shared housing, the biggest problem is that paying rent will leave her without money to buy food. She will not rehome her dogs because they are her fur children. She lives with several chronic illnesses and depression. These dogs keep her alive, they’ve been through it all with her.

Her lifelong dream is to live in a van. I came across a van for sale that’s perfect for her.

I wish I could buy it for her, but I’m struggling myself. I’d love to be able to give her a place to live since it’s impossible for her and her dogs to live with me. I’ve got cats, and her dogs don’t get along with cats. This and me not having a guest room makes it impossible for her to live with me. I lent her my car 8 months ago when her car broke down, that’s all I could do. My car is very small and not big enough to be able to live in it.

Back to the van. The van is built in a way that you can live in it, it has 4 solar panels on the roof providing electricity, the dogs also fit. She will be able to keep teaching, I’ve put her on my mobile family plan so she has unlimited internet.

The most important thing of all, it will give her some independence back. She has been at the mercy of other people for over a year, and there is no end in sight.

The van will be a dream come true, she will be able to get her life back on track. But more importantly, she will be safe, warm, and free again.

Any bit of funding helps and please share the story. The owner of the van has agreed to reserve it for her for 3 weeks. We’re in a bit of a time crunch. The goal amount will cover the cost of the van and a year of insurance.

Thank you for reading this far, it means a lot to me.
