Help me celebrate the life of my stepdad

As many of you probably already know, my stepdad, Russ, recently passed away due to congestive heart failure. He will be dearly missed.

Per Russ's wishes, there is to be no formal wake or funeral. However, on August 7, 2022, there will be a celebration of life for Russ in Fairbanks, Alaska, which I would dearly love to attend. Russ had a profound impact on most of the people he met, including me, and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be with my mother and Russ's family during this celebration.

Unfortunately, travel from Hamilton to Fairbanks is not cheap, and living on a fixed income, as I currently do, means that it's not possible for me to simply book a ticket and leave on a whim. This is where you come in.

Any aid that you might be able to render in helping me get to Fairbanks for a couple of weeks - roughly from the third weekend in July until August 8 - would mean the world to me. I don't like to ask for financial help, but being in Alaska to help my mom with her grief and with the process of starting her next steps, not to mention being present at the celebration of life of a man I deeply admired, means more to me than I have the words to express.

All donations will go directly toward the cost of the trip itself, primarily the plane ticket. Every little bit helps, and will be deeply appreciated by me and by my entire Alaska family.
