Hi Everyone. My name is Sally Thom. I own Bubbles Dog Grooming Salon in Williamsville, NY. I am asking for your help raising funds for my good friend, Mayra Rodriguez. Mayra owns Glitter Paws Dog Grooming on Grand Island, NY. On May 20th, Mayra was mauled by a dog. It was a dog she knew for about 5 yrs. The dog happened to be boarding at the facility next door and the girls were having a little trouble with him. It was Mayra's first day off in a long time but she went there to help them since she knew the dog and he always did well with her. That's how Mayra is....always helping others. Anyway, she had the dog out of the kennel and was walking him. All of a sudden the dogs energy changed and as she tried to see what was bothering him, he attacked her face. He tore her lip and cheek open. She couldn't get him off her. Someone ran to help and tried to get the dog off of her. When they got him off her face, he went for her chest and arms. It was a horrific attack by a dog she loved. She was taken to the hospital and her face has been stitched up. Her other wounds are healing but she has a long road ahead of her. She still can only have liquids through a straw and will eventually need more surgery on her face. She won't be able to work again for at least 6 weeks. She will have mounting medical and legal bills as she tries to recover some of the damage done to her through this awful attack. Mayra helped me out quite a bit when I first got my business. I knew she didn't really have the time, but she made time for us. Mayra is a wonderful human. Generous and loving. We always laugh when we say how giving Mayra is. We say she'd give you her last bite to eat and go without, just so you wouldn't be hungry. She's the provider and mom of two sweet young kids. She's always helping others. Now she needs our help.
