Help May Toy with expenses after hit n run

On Sunday evening 8/15/21 May Toy was struck in a "hit and run" while crossing Van Buren on Racine heading towards the Blue Line stop. The car ran the red light, striking May and then fled the scene. CPD has it on video but no arrests have been made at this time.

May was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was diagnosed with a broken hip, bruised left side and heart. She is in enormous amounts of pain. She is currently still admitted but luckily does not need surgery. The recovery is estimated to be around 3 months.

May is a pillar of the West Loop community. She is selfless, caring and a friend to all who know her. We know it will be very financially hard on May at this time but also very emotional. May loves to garden and has done wonders with the Skinner Park garden. Not being able to tend to her garden will surely be very taxing on her.

Real West Loop is rallying the West Loop behind May to help support her through what will be a very difficult time. Funds raised will be allocated to incurred medical, transportation and general living expenses. Funds raised will also be allocated towards a shed at the Skinner Park garden and tools that will benefit the park and community. Knowing May, she may also put funds raised towards a charity of her choice but want to make sure there is a financial cushion for her and her family during this time.
