Help Maura Grimm: Car Accident

Donation protected
Friends, you might know Maura Grimm from St. Seraphim or St. Maximos. If so, you know how much she contributes with how little she has, and what a positive influence she is on everyone around her.

On July 25, 2017, Maura was hit by a car that ran a red light. Her shoulder was separated from its joint; she sustained lacerations to her arm and legs; and she suffered some neurological damage. Fortunately, a passer-by saw the incident and got her help.

Astonishingly, the ER she was taken to only took X-rays of her shoulder, and sent her home without any further treatment or instructions whatsoever-- not even a sling for her shoulder, nor evaluation for a concussion. Maura was not able to get the examination and treatment she needed until she visited her regular doctor the following week. She is now undergoing physical therapy and home rest.

As a result of the accident, Maura won't be able to return to work for the next three months, and her savings won’t stretch that far. She has applied to benefits to defray costs; as well as seeking compensation from the driver who hit her. However, until that money comes in, she will need help paying her bills.

What does she need and when does she need it by?

Our goal of $1,500 should cover three months’ worth of rent, utilities, and medical expenses that has not already been covered by other sources of income (food stamps, medical leave payments, etc.).

She needs at least $400 by the end of the month. Hopefully we get the full amount of $1500 in before then so she can be worry-free for the next three months!

What if I can't spare money, but still want to help?

Maura could use donations of food—especially fish to help her brain heal, and bottled water. Canned fruits and vegetables will work too.

[edit: bike request has been removed. Apparently the doctors say she won't be able to safely ride a bike indefinitely. We don't know yet if she'll be able to use one again, but it will likely be several more months yet before we know that for sure.]

She will need rides to further-away locations such as doctor's appointments, physical therapy, and church.

And, of course, visits are always appreciated-- being by herself at home gets lonely fast!

EDIT: Although we've hit our goal of $2500 and then some, folks are more than welcome to donate more, especially since recovery may end up taking longer or costing more than anticipated. So, if it's on your heart to give-- please keep 'em coming, and thank you!

Can I pay her to do something?

If you know Maura, you know she likes to stay busy. She happens to be an exceptionally skilled artist who can take painting and sketching commissions. Here are some samples of her work:
