HELP MATT AND TARYN
Donation protected
On Thursday, October 17, Matt was on his way to work and got into a terrible motorcycle accident. According to one witness and the voicemail from one of the Troopers a Cadillac SUV crossed the center line on 104 and struck Matt head on. Matt landed on the road and the Cadi went off the road to the left into a ditch with the bike underneath it. A couple jumped out of the SUV with the man running over to check Matt claiming he didn’t see him. The Trooper has stated that the driver has admitted to crossing over the center line.
Matt is alive because he was wearing a helmet and full gear. Although, it will be a very long road to recovery. He has a broken femur on the right leg which broke through the skin, and they put external pins in to stabilize that.
He has a broken tibia on his left leg and there’s damage to an artery. They had to do a bypass to get blood to his leg past the knee. His left ankle is broken as well. They see no injuries to the cranium or the C level vertebrae which is really good news. There may be some minor chips to some lower vertebrae.
The next most pressing issue will be analyzing abdominal trauma as there is a traumatic abdominal wall hernia above the hipbone in the back. He also has a broken sternum and some small cracks in his cheeks.
He had to undergo surgery and has had multiple blood transfusions. They kept him intubated and the damage is bad but he is keeping both legs. He has since had the tube removed but they're giving him oxygen through his nose because his oxygen levels are not where we'd like them.
Taryn will be out of work for the next few months to take care of Matt so they will need financial help to stay afloat. They also have 2 dogs that will need care as Taryn is at the hospital with Matt.
Our family appreciates all the help, financial support, and prayers you can give to Matt and Taryn in this trying time!
