Matt and Nova have fought and overcome many battles throughout their relationship. This couple never complain, never ask for help and never look for sympathy.
On Wednesday 15th August 2018 at only 33 years old Matt suffered a very sudden and unexpected severe Stroke. He is currently fighting for his life in a Stroke Unit in a Brisbane Hospital.
We want to do what we can to help them fight this one so we have decided to set up this page just to try and do whatever we can to help. Money raised will assist this couple with financial expenses incurred during this tragic time. This will ensure they can focus solely on Matt's treatment and recovery.
Matt is completely paralysed down one side of his body, has no speech, he’s non responsive and only time will the long term damage. Nova has not left his side, but she is heartbroken and is under immense pressure emotionally. We know that Matt is going to need long term stroke rehabilitation, which will last for months if not years as well as haemodialysis.
Matt and Nova have been invested in the possibility of double organ transplant (kidney and pancreas) before the end of this year, that they hadn’t even considered that a stroke might derail their plan. Earlier this year they purchased their first home together and were so excited about the future. They have been desperately trying to have a child together and regularly talked of all the countries they were going to visit after transplant.
Nova is 100% focused on ensuring that Matt receives the best possible stroke rehabilitation, but realistically she needs to continue working full-time to try and cover their mortgage so they don’t lose their house, not to mention pay all their other living expenses.
Nova has expressed that her heart breaks when she thinks of how much she loves him. She knows that he knows, but she also knows that their life will NEVER be what it was. They have a long road ahead with many more hurdles to overcome but Matt is a fighter and a HERO to many.
All funds received will be directly deposited to a verified bank account of Matt and Nova.
