Help Matilda Pay Emergency Surgery

Donation protected
This weekend was a very emotional weekend for everyone at Wee Ones Dog Rescue.

Matilda, one of the Texas 10 Chihuahua’s escaped from her foster home on Friday evening.

Matilda was a very scared dog who was not socialized and scared of every human she came in contact with.

We worked with Nikki at the NS Lost Dog Network all weekend and had several sightings of Matilda. She was staying in the area but due to the level of her fear, we were unable to lure her to us. Every human she seen just caused her to run.

Yesterday late afternoon we received a call from a train conductor telling us that Matilda was running down the tracks at the fast approaching train, she did not move. Matilda was struck by the train. No dog could survive that.

The foster and a couple of searchers walked the tracks last night at the beginning of darkness with the intentions of bringing home her remains. That’s the least we could do.

Imagine their surprise when they came across her tiny body on the tracks and she was still alive.
Matilda was rushed to the Emergency Hospital. She was alert but her feet/legs were in rough shape.
Matilda’s vitals were very strong.

She was sedated, every test under the sun was done, X-rays were taken. Her white blood cell count was slightly elevated, due to infection starting to set in. She was put under sedation and no internal injuries were found and her feet were cleaned up and she was/is being treated for infection. Her right leg will need to be amputated. Her left leg should heal, there was no fractures in that but her foot will take a lot of healing.

She is resting comfortably and her vitals remain strong.

Like who survives being hit by a train. Our Matilda did. We cried tears of joy for her. It has been a very emotional weekend.

Matilda’s battle is far from over. She will be seeing an Orthopaedic Surgeon soon.

As a rescue, this is one of the worse things that could of ever happened.

But now our focus is on getting this girl everything she needs to make her healthy and strong again.

This is where we are hoping that you can help.

Matildas care last night alone hit the $2700 mark. She is going to require another surgery and long extensive rehabilitation. We are probably looking around the $5000 mark, not including last nights total.

I’m hoping everyone can see it in their heart to donate to this sweet girl. She deserves a fighting chance.
This was a very unfortunate accident.

Can you help us give Matilda a fighting chance at a good life. After all the trauma she has experienced, this girl needs all the love and well wishes she can get.

Every dollar counts, every share counts.
