Help Mason Pay for Top Surgery

Donation protected

Hi! My friends name is Mason, and he is getting top surgery on the 8th of August 2021.

Mason is in his first year of University, studying psychology. He has been been actively working towards this surgery for a few years now, and was ecstatic when he finally managed to confirm a consultation.

Mason used to live in a very unsupportive household with his Mother, and he decided for his own safety that he should move out of home before the surgery took place. Luckily, he has since been able to move into uni accommodation! Even better, his father had agreed to help pay for the surgery, and his mother never had to know. This would ensure that Mason could keep receiving financial and emotional support from both parents without putting his mental health in danger.

However, only a few days before the first payment was due, his father informed Mason that he would only pay for the surgery if Mason also informed his mother, and if his father no longer financially supported him in the future.  Telling his mother would not only cause a massive rift in his family, putting him in danger (as severe depression and anxiety is a high risk), but ensure that Mason loses all financial support from his mother, leaving him with no financial support at all.

As he cannot work due to covid, this is devastating. He would be unable to afford his accommodation, and has already made plans for couch surfing if this scenario becomes a reality. We cannot postpone the surgery. Masons ribs are severely injured from binding, and his mental health is in serious decline. To postpone the surgery would be catastrophic for him.

Our only option is to pay for the surgery ourselves. Thanks to the generous donations of friends we have scraped up enough to pay for the initial surgery, but we are about $5000 short for costs such as anesthesia and the hospital stay.  We are asking for your help so that we can go through with the surgery, without risking Masons wellbeing and safety.

All donations go directly to surgery related costs, and in the scenario that either the surgery does not happen, or Mason loses support from his parents, all donations will go towards Masons living costs (Food, utilities, rent) so that he can remain housed during covid.

Thank you so much in advance for any help! Every cent counts!
