Help Martin Get A New Van To Tow His Food Truck

Donation protected
Jacqui and I first met Martin when we approached us to provide Caribbean Street Food at our bar, Tom's Tap and Brewhouse.  I was sceptical at first because he, like us, was just starting out but Jacqui insisted we give him ago and, as usual, she was right.

Martin makes the best Curry Goat I've ever tasted and has become a firm friend; I regard him as my brother from another mother.

Like many businesses The Sunshine Street Food Co has been hit hard by Coronavirus. Not only has the primary source of income been shut for 9 of the last 15 months but, as a self employed person, Martin has found support hard to come by.

In June last year the head gasket went on his Shogun which he uses to pull the trailer, a converted 1960's milk float which serves as his kitchen.  He took out a loan to fix the engine but six months later the big end went and he had to scrap the car leaving him with a loan to repay and no means of income.

He's trying to start up again but having ho hire a vehicle to tow the trailer is significantly eating into his profit. I would buy him a van if I had the money but our own business is also recovering from the last 12 months and we just don't have the funds.

A van will get Martin back on the road physically and metaphorically, he's not short of events and taprooms who want to book him to provide food. All the customers who come to Tom's and ask "When is Martin coming? " The answer is, when he's got a new van.

People ask what you need in business to survive. Much of the time the answer is luck. Martin's had luck but the vast majority of it in the last 12 months has been bad.  It'll mean the world to us to get him back at our taproom as well as the joy of seeing , let's get him back on the road.
