Help Maria and Maggie On Their Cancer Battles

Donation protected
As many of you may be aware, Maria and Maggie have both devastatingly been diagnosed with having cancer. On the 14th of July this year, Maria was diagnosed with Grade 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer, and her mum Maggie was diagnosed just 5 short weeks later with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer.

Maria is a doting mum to her 2 year old daughter, Mila. She was only 27 when she was diagnosed with this horrible disease. Her whole world came crashing down and her life was instantly put on hold. She was, and remains uncertain for what the future may hold for both her and Mila. Maggie is 55 years old and is mother to Maria and ‘granny’ to Mila. They are a super close family and are affectionately know as “The 3 M’s”

Maria works full time as a nurse, which she absolutely adores, and has worked tirelessly throughout this pandemic to giver and and wee Mila a comfortable life together. Unfortunately, due to her immune system being suppressed by the chemotherapy, she is unable to go to work and it is likely that this may continue for the foreseeable future, until she has finished treatment and is fit enough to return. She will face 8 rounds of chemo, followed by surgery to have a mastectomy and then radiotherapy after that. Maria has had type 1 diabetes most of her life, and although this is well controlled and managed she was unable to secure any sort of Critical Illness cover, which would have massively benefitted her after being diagnosed with cancer.

Maria’s mum, Maggie is Maria’s biggest supporter and best friend. They do absolutely everything and overcome anything thrown in their way together, however batting cancer was never something that imagined having to go through! Tragically, just 5 short weeks after Maria’s diagnosis, Maggie was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. Just like Maria, Maggie worked endlessly during the pandemic as a Team Leader within the NHS, and has devoted the last 26 years to this role. Maggie lives on her own, and is in the same position as Maria and will unfortunately be forced to take time off work during her treatments. They are both in for the biggest fights of their lives, and no doubt there will be many ups and downs, but they are both so positive and upbeat and I believe this will help them through. They are both very kind hearted people who would do anything for anyone, and are both very independent and strong willed, and don’t like to accept help! Many of their family and friends feel very helpless during this difficult time, and for that reason I have created this page to raise some money for our “3 M’s”. They are going through a hard enough time, fighting for their lives to be here to see the beautiful Mila grow up, so to take away some of that financial burden from them, would mean the world.
So myself, some family and friends are going to be taking part in a sponsored walk from outside Maria’s estate to Celtic Park and then back again (roughly 18 miles). We will also be holding a charity football game. Dates will be confirmed soon, and if anyone wishes to take part, please message me.
We know that we are currently still in the pandemic and are 100% appreciative that many people out there are are having tough times themselves so we don’t have any high exceptions from this. So anything anyone can spare, even £1 would go a long way!
We are also eternally grateful for any donations and if we could possibly thank every single person individually we would ❤️
