Help Mama Skate Again: Knee Injury Fund
Donation protected
Hey, I'm Marissa Martinez, and I'm reaching out to you today for support. Skateboarding isn't just my passion, it's my life and my livelihood. However, I recently took a pretty bad slam, and I need a little help to get back on my board.
The Accident:
A few weeks ago, I was attempting a trick at Jkwon when I had to bail out last minute. My knee took the full impact. The good news is, no broken bones. The bad news is, I tore my ACL, meniscus, and one of the quads from my knee cap. The doctors says I need surgery ASAP. Without it, my knee will lock up, and my skateboarding days might be over.
Insurance Hurdles:
Here's the kicker – I need surgery and a full year of physical therapy three times a week. Even with insurance, I'm looking at paying out of pocket around $20,000 plus. My ability to work has taken a hit, and this expense is simply out of my budget.
How You Can Help:
I'm turning to my friends, family, and fellow skaters. I've created this GoFundMe campaign to raise $20,000, which is roughly a third of the total cost required for my surgery and recovery. I don't expect to make the full amount, but know that your support, whether big or small, will mean the world to me and help me get back to doing what I love.
Where Your Contribution Goes:
Surgery expenses
Post-surgery rehabilitation
Medications and essential medical supplies
Follow-up appointments and check-ups
Closing Thoughts:
I know there are countless important causes out there, and I appreciate you taking the time to consider mine. Thank you for reading my story and for any support you can provide. Please share with your friends and family
