Help make Katie more independent at home

Hi my name is David and I’m fundraising for my partner Katie, we need help to make the home a safe and more independent place for her when she comes home.

in January Katie came down with a rare and debilitating form of Gillian Barrett Syndrome that left her fully paralysed from head to toe since then her life and the life of her 3 children has been turned upside down.

she spent 4 months on ICU at the QE hospital in a ventilator and unable to walk or talk for most of that time, she has since moved to a rehabilitation centre in Norwich where she has worked very hard to try and regain as much mobility as she can but has been left with severe upper body disabilities and limited use of the rest of her body.

she is looking to be discharged in November and ideally we would like to convert the bathroom to a wet room to make it easier and safer for her to be washed and showered by us and her caregivers. We would also like to be able to make the garden more disabled friendly as she loves to spend time in the garden in the summer.

we have looked into help from the local government but unfortunately the wait times for this type of adoption is very long and we can’t get any help with the garden
