Lyanne Rose Memorial Fund

On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, our beautiful Lyanne Marie Rose succumbed to melanoma.  Her fierce and courageous battle lasted nearly two years, and ended at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.  Her husband was at her side.

Lyanne leaves behind not only her husband, Matt, but also two young children.  Grayson is 3.5 years and Abby is 1.5 years.

Initiated for the purpose of helping Lyanne's family with practical expenses associated with her fight, this fund is being maintained in hopes of helping Matt with the cost of funeral expenses.  Anything in excess of her aftercare expenses will be placed in a fund for the children.

Thank you to each and every person who has supported the Roses throughout their path and her battle against this horrible disease.

Lyanne is the mother of Abby (1) and Grayson (3). She is fighting Stage IV melanoma, which has proven to be extremely aggressive. In just a few months it has continued to spread into her brain, bones, liver, adrenals, and lungs.  Two different treatments have been initiated, and due to adverse reactions she has not been able to proceed with either.  The first (chemo) drug affected her eyesight, leaving her unable to drive a car.

There is hope.  She is putting up a very good fight, is terrified but remaining positive, and she is committed to beating this disease.  

Fortunately, Lyanne lives roughly 160 km from Princess Margaret Hospital, a world renowned cancer treatment center.  There, she has just embarked on the next phase of her battle.  August 14, 2019 marked her first treatment session in a Phase I Study (of NIS793/PDR001 immunotherapy combo).

Each donation or share is helpful, and we are eternally grateful to each supporter of this campaign.

Due to the changes in Lyanne's condition and situation I am making a full edit to this campaign.  

The costs associated with this fight have continued to mount.  In what is normally a two income household, Lyanne's cancer has rendered her unable to work while she fights this battle.  She is physically ill, and the necessity for childcare and help around the house is greater now.  Every ounce of energy spared is an ounce that she can use to fight the cancer.

Additionally, Lyanne will have to travel 160 km (100 miles) frequently for treatment, sometimes being required to spend the night in a hotel close to the hospital when scheduling calls for it.  Without a driver's license, Lyanne is relying on friends and family (not local) to drive her to treatment. She is required to do this up to twice a week.  When nobody is available to drive her, she will have to rely on ride share service.

Previous treatments led to toxicity in Lyanne's body, leading to other health issues.  Lymphatic drainage, a massage technique, can be helpful in aiding the body's evacuation of toxins.  With a regular regimen we are hoping to avoid a recurrence of this, on this new treatment.

This campaign is intended to help Lyanne travel to and from medical appointments, and to assist with household duties and the care of Abby and Grayson while Matt is at work.

Each donation, however small, is very meaningful and helpful to her battle.  Donations  will be used towards funding the following, which will be needed on an ongoing basis as she is treated:


$20        1 hour of babysitting
$50        1 day of meals while at treatment
$75        1 tank of gas for transport to and from treatment
$80        1 day of daycare for both children
$100     1 lymphatic drainage session
$125     1 day of in-home help with the children, cleaning, meal preparation
$175     1 one-way trip to or from treatment (Uber)
$250     1 night of hotel with parking
