Help Luke keep living the dream (Living with MND)

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Jen, and on 13th February I'm going to run a half marathon to raise money for my little brother Luke, who recently (aged just 26), was given the devastating diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease.

Anyone who knows Luke will know him as a charismatic fun loving person, with passion for sport, adventure, travel and life. Basically all of Luke's previous interests and hobbies involve being physically active, which of course makes this diagnosis all the more upsetting as he adjusts to this new life. He already struggles to walk, and his symptoms are progressing alarmingly quickly. His life expectancy is short. The time before he is likely to be in a wheelchair is much shorter. This is absolutely heartbreaking for all of us close to Luke.

Over the last few months, Luke has been an inspiration with his determination to 'fuck it' and live his life to the absolute fullest. He is on a quest to see and experience as much of the world as possible.

So far his adventures have been funded by his savings and contributions from our wonderful parents, but of course this is not sustainable, especially alongside costly alternative treatments and therapies he's using that aren't covered by the NHS. So I am trying to raise some money to keep his adventures going a little longer.

So a bit about the challenge: I am all booked to do the Aintree half marathon on 13th February giving myself slightly over 6 weeks to train. And, I hope to do it in under 2 hours.

A bit about my starting point: I went for my first run on New Year's Day, having not been for a run for numerous years. This was also my first day out of isolation having just recovered from covid.

Needless to say I like a challenge, but also I want to actually DO something to help this awful situation. Up to now, I've generally felt pretty helpless, but I've decided now is the time to get up and do something that might make a difference!

Anything you can give towards this cause would be so greatly appreciated.

I have set the (revised) target at £13,100 to equate to £1000 per mile of the half marathon!

Help keep the adventure of a lifetime going!

Thanks for reading if you got this far ❤️❤️❤️
