Help Luis with Medical and Funeral costs

Hello,
My name is Luis Hernandez Aguilar and I am the nephew of Luis Aguilar. I have started this go fund me on behalf of my grandparents, Luis Aguilar’s parents.

As many of you know Luis Aguilar suffered a tragic accident on January 11th which resulted in severe brain damage and seizures. Luis was found outside his workplace unresponsive and transported to North Memorial, where he was placed in a medically induced coma. Over these last few weeks Luis has been sedated in the hospital, where doctors have tirelessly attempted to improve Luis's condition. After various medical opinions and tests, his brain was unfortunately too severely damaged due to lack of oxygen from the accident. It has been 22 years since Luis's parents have been able to see him in person. Now Luis's parents have made the long trip from Mexico to see their son in this condition and to make a decision based on Luis's condition and his wishes. With a heavy heart the family has decided to end life support today February 2nd.

 

Luis was very well known and loved by family, friends and members of the community. He was known by many as "Rambo". He touched a lot of hearts with his personality and charisma. We know that many of you have seen this first hand and have asked about his well being. Please understand that this has been a stressful time for his elderly parents and family as we have been navigating all these moving parts, and may not have been able to update everyone.

 

As you can imagine medical bills have piled up and as of right now Luis does not have insurance options. His parents have decided to take him back to his home country to be laid to rest. We expect the transportation costs alone to be around $10,000. We thank everyone who has reached out and have offered to assist Luis and his family during this time.
