Help Luis Green

On the afternoon of July 11th, Luis Green Jr., along with his girlfriend, were enjoying a picnic lunch at a local park when they were approached by a man who came out from the adjacent bushes.  The unknown man attempted to take their lunch box and without provocation attacked Luis.  At the time, Luis did not notice that the assailant had used a box cutter to severely severe his arm, narrowly missing his artery.  The assailant also attempted to choke Luis for what seemed like an eternity. As the attack continued, Luis’s girlfriend remained on the phone with the 911 operator attempting to get help, however the police department never arrived.    Eventually, the assailant released Luis and ran from the area.  Luis was then transported to two different hospitals in order to have his injuries addressed.  Luis recalls the physician telling him how lucky he was to have survived the attack. Luis believes the entire attack lasted close to 20 minutes, which is unthinkable, but remains positive, in spite of the horrific experience.  Luckily, Luis is out of the hospital and is now begun the slow process of recovery.

Luis is known by his community as being a hard-working young man, who is always positive and diligent.  His co-workers describe Luis as somewhat shy, but always willing to help.  Luis gets along with everyone and will often check in on you, just because.  Although shy, Luis loves to laugh. Luis is devoted to his family and has two jobs so that he can provide for his younger brother and 2 sisters. Recently, Luis was able to pursue his dream of becoming an electrician by enrolling in an electrical apprenticeship program.

Luis has not been vocal about the pressure he has been under during these very difficult times. But his sunny disposition and selflessly keep him positive and humble.  When in reality, Luis is not only facing emotional trauma, but also financial distress. We ask for your prayers and assistance in supporting this young man, as he attempts to recover from this horrific tragedy, physically and emotionally.
