Help local PV business owner fight Cancer

Donation protected
Don White, a Pleasant Valley N.Y. Business Owner, beloved father, brother, husband and friend, has been struck suddenly by Stage 4 Colon Cancer back in September 2019. What we thought was just a routine Hernia checkup. turned into everyone’s worst nightmare. A perfectly healthy, young outgoing guy is now on a roller coaster to survive.

Most of you may know Don as a hard working, driven man who has been helping others with their handyman needs with his and his son’s business, Valley Property Maintenance. Always wanting to help others and has always had a good heart. He and I have been married for 28 years and never once have I seen him struggle with health issues, take a day off, or get down in the dumps, so this is a huge blow to him and our family.

We both own our own businesses, me with my Day Care and Don with his Handyman Services, which is fantastic until you’re hit with something like this. Since being diagnosed in September, Don has been too sick, and has not been able to collect a check for his own income. I have also lost half my income due to tending to him in and out of the hospital numerous times these past 3 months. With that being said, things are quickly becoming very tight for us.

We are not the ones to ever ask for help, we have struggled before and made it through. But this is different, we are swimming and aren’t sure where to turn. Medical bills: such as In Home Services ($45 per person, per visit 2-3 times a week): Health Aide, Nurse, OT and PT, the many office visits, chemo visits, medications and the numerous hospital stays that he had endured so far. Along with personal bills, food, gas and rent are rapidly taking a toll on us. Worried about not being to make next month’s rent and losing our house and my business, or being able to provide food while trying to keep up on the incoming medical and utility bills, we desperately need help.

We have found that many services and charities won’t help middle aged people and only children or seniors. We are still searching for resources and any possible help and treatments to alleviate the stress.

We both very much appreciate the outpouring help we have so far received, and can’t thank everyone enough. We understand everyone has their own struggles, so even a share will go a long way for us. Please help Don and our family get back on our feet, it would mean the world to us.

If you'd like another way to help, we also have a meal train set up.
