Help Liv, aka Trans-Aunt May, w/ her transition!
Liv is one of the kindest, compassionate, and most deserving women I have ever had the pleasure to meet, and she needs our help.
It isn't every day that you meet someone like Liv. Someone who, despite her past suffering, despite all of the cruel obstacles that life has thrown at her, despite every circumstance that has made her struggle and overcome strife, has chosen to spread light and love throughout the world. Using her platform on facebook, Trans-Aunt May Supports You All The Way, she has shone a light for thousands of trans, non-binary, and otherwise gender non-comforming folx to feel more welcome and comfortable in their identities, during a time when we are beset on all sides by an oppressive and sociopolitical climate.
Now, it's out time to help her. Not only is being transgender hard in a social sense, it's a terrible financial burden too. Between the cost of hormone replacement therapy, doctor's visits, and employment discrimination, it can seem impossible to access other important transition services. For Liv, and many trans women, electrolysis (removal of facial hair) is a necessary step to feeling more comfortable in her gender identity as well as be more likely to be perceived by strangers as her true gender. While "passing" isn't necessary to be trans, or even something all trans people desire, it IS vital for safety, especially when trans women are disproportionately targeted if they don't "pass." Liv also deals with sensitive skin, and constantly having to shave leaves her skin painfully blistered and broken.
Furthermore, Liv is pursuing surgery, and will require electrolysis around the surgical site. Unfortunately, the window for reserving a spot for surgery is rapidly closing, and she only has a few months to raise enough funds to make said reservation.
