Help Lisa pay for Oscar's surgery

Hi, I'm Melanie and with the organization of this crowdfunding I would like to support Lisa in financing the unexpected operation of her dear four-legged friend Oscar. She is someone who always stands up for other people and especially animals. Now she needs your help in order not to get into financial need in the near future. This is their story:

On Friday 20th January I made a split second decision that I would regret. I had an hour to spare and I decided to take my 2 dogs in the car to Praia da Vau in Portimao to enjoy a quick run on the beach. It was lovely and quiet with just one or 2 people around so I let both off lead and they happily played and sniffed around. Oscar ran ahead around the cliff whilst I played ball with Jessie. He returned a couple of minutes later with a lot of fishing line dangling from his mouth. I realised straight away we were in trouble and rushed him to Portimao Veterinary Hospital. They were busy but as soon as I explained they took him straight through and sedated him. The hope was they could retrieve the hook from his mouth or throat. Unfortunately it wasn't possible and an x-ray showed it had passed into his stomach. I was asked to return the next morning after starving him and be prepared for Surgery. The next morning the hook had moved again and she feared she couldn't reach it with an endoscopy so explained he would have to go to the Ani Cura Restelo Hospital Veterinarario in Lisbon as the surgery he may need is not available in the Algarve. A good friend stepped in and drove us to Lisbon. At first the vet was optimistic that they could get it with the endoscopy so this was tried first. Unfortunately it had moved and another x-ray showed it had reached the small bowel so a surgery through the abdomen was needed which is much more complex. Fortunately they were able to remove the hook and close successfully. Oscar is left very sore with lesions inside where the hook passed through his system. He will need medication and care for the next 10 days and most important rest to allow him to heal. So far, the veterinarian costs are around 1600€. Of course I would do whatever it takes to save my dog but this is a huge amount of money to have to produce at short notice. I had 2 other good friends to drive and accompany me to collect Oscar today so I feel very lucky.

It is unfortunate that my dog is a greedy scavenger and also unfortunate that fishermen leave lines and hooks laying around on a public beach where domestic pets and wildlife risk getting seriously harmed or dying a painful death. On posting I heard of more cases and apparently this is quite common here so please take care when walking your dogs on the beach. Any help would be greatly appreciated
