Help LING recover from 3 tragedies

Donation protected

Hello Friends,

A co-worker and friend has experienced tragedy THREE times in an uncanny way involving moving vehicles. Her name is Ling Heung and I know her through our Real Estate connections as she worked in the same office as we did. Coming from Hong Kong, her life has been difficult in ways that the average person can’t fathom, but 3 instances are highlighted here as they are the most recent and seem strangely connected.

1) Let’s begin In 2004 when she met a wonderful man, Bruce, and they fell in love. In Sept of 2012, Bruce suffered but survived 2 heart attacks and was put on blood thinners and aspirin. On Nov 17, 2012 Bruce, who owned a racing bike, took a ride and was going quite fast when a young skateboarder got in front of him. He was about to lay the bike down to avoid hitting him when the kid suddenly moved out of the way and Bruce went headfirst into a concrete pole. He sustained severe brain injuries but Ling, being the devoted and caring person she is, stood by him through a long and difficult recovery. The brain injuries took several years for enough healing to allow Bruce to go back to work. Through it all, the strength and commitment of their love resulted in their marriage in November of 2014.

2) July 1st, 2015 they were on a drive together when there was some car trouble and they pulled over to the side of the road near an intersection. They called for a tow truck and while waiting, a car pulled up next to them to ask them if they needed assistance and then backed up to park behind them. Bruce got out of the car and walked back to speak to the good samaritan while Ling was on the phone. Suddenly Ling hears a CRASH. In the few seconds it took her to get out of her car to investigate, the good samaritan was gone and she couldn’t find Bruce. She was confused and walked around the car looking to see where it was hit while calling out Bruce’s name. Then she saw him... laying about 2-3 car lengths away…his body positioned in such a way that his head was in the way of oncoming traffic! In horror, she ran and knelt beside him and prayed for/with him as she watched him take his last breaths. She shared the painful details with me about her shock, the rush of raw emotions and all the chaos that ensued around that event which had me weeping with her. To spare Ling, I will not include those details here, however, I will share with you what actually happened. A young male driver had stopped at the intersection next to them and put the car in reverse and backed up at a high rate of speed to slam into Bruce, throwing his body and also hitting the car of the good samaritan that had been parked behind them. The good samaritan quickly followed the perpetuator as he had fled the scene. All of this took place before Ling even got out of the car. Not understanding what had happened, all she knew was that her Bruce had been hit and killed.

That tragedy naturally was devastating to her, but she was unable to adequately mourn since she was swept up into the whole legal system concerning the accident as well as doing all the necessary things one has to do after losing a loved one...and she had to do it all alone; the funeral arrangements, the cleaning out of Bruce’s belongings and even moving to a new location because she knew she would not be able to afford to live in their home anymore. Through it all, Ling being a woman of faith, carried on with God's help . She picked up her work in the Real Estate business and did her best to move forward in her life.

3) The most recent tragedy is described in Ling's own words: "On Sunday, June 6, 2021, I (as a real estate agent) was putting up an open house sign near the intersection of County Road 419 and Lake Mills Road. At approximately 11:30am, a passing auto struck me and left me injured and incapacitated. EMS arrived and took me to ORMC I sustained extensive injuries including a fractured pelvis and left collar bone, two toe fractures to my left foot, and numerous abrasions and contusions. I also sustained a head laceration.

I was in and out of the hospital and the rehabilitation all together for about 3 weeks. I had a Clavicle ORIF surgery on July 8th and am now on my long road to recovery.”

Ling is a very quiet strong woman and is reluctant to ask for help. She is a devout Christian and has ALWAYS been willing to help anyone in need. Now it is time to help her! Obviously, she now has mounting medical bills and is limited in how she can work until she is fully recovered. This last accident has brought to the surface all the pain from the past. She needs our support.

I ask you to pray for Ling and also to please donate whatever amount God nudges you to give. He will bless you for it and it will certainly bless Ling!

Thank you
