A dear friend, Lindsey Case, is experiencing one of the most difficult situations one can endure. Please hear her testimony below as she tries to navigate being a spouse of someone with a severe mental illness. She is seeking strength as a newly single-parent, safety, and financial support from the community as she secures legal assistance for the protection and well-being of herself and her two young girls.

Please consider giving funds to help Lindsey hire a lawyer. The goal is to raise $3,500 by October 12th. Virtually overnight she has been deprived of a safe home, parenting assistance, and access to her family's joint finances. Thank you for your help, prayers, and generosity!

From Lindsey:

This has been the most difficult time of my life.  At the beginning of August, I had a loving husband, two wonderful daughters, a beautiful home in a great neighborhood.

My husband is bipolar. He had a huge manic episode where he quit his job and tried to quit his family. He got hospitalized at the end of August by his doctor. He had a horrible time. The hospital was horrible. They let him out 5 days later with new meds, no doctor, and a new personality. That is when everything began to really break down. Our world, my world being married to my best friend for 11 years chipped away. He was a different person that hated me and blamed me for everything that was wrong in his life.  He was home for 7 days causing all kinds of damage. A lot of it is financial. He didn't have a job and kept spending money. Our money.

His behavior has been very reckless. I feel unsafe around him. He has been nothing but cruel to me. It broke my heart. I did everything I could to try to help. After a week of trying to love and support him in this state, I made a decision that he needed professional help. A group of friends held an intervention for him to show their love and concern. He was very aggressive and threatening to people he has known and loved for a long time. He was hospitalized again. It was a better hospital this time. He stayed for 7 days. He seemed a little bit better. After he left the hospital, the manic Craig still remained. He bought a ticket to Bali and Bora Bora on his credit card. I feel unsafe being around him and the girls and I have been living with my mom in her trailer.

For the past two months, he has become someone I don't know. He is a different, scary, and reckless person. He is someone that neither myself or our children, feel safe to be near. I have to get a lawyer because he is taking things away from me and my daughters. We need to have a future that is stable. I have seen too many tears from my oldest daughter. She has asked, "Why is daddy not old daddy anymore?" Our money is in savings and I don't have access to it. Craig has refused to be civil about this, to get counseling, mediation, or work any of our issues out. He is still in this manic state and wants power over me. My life has turned upside down. With his new personality, I can't see how to support him or myself without legal intervention. Again, I need a lawyer to help with what is fair to our family, so we can stay safe while Craig manages his health.

I have very little money at this time. I am in a very vulnerable situation. Please consider donating to help fund the lawyer. With legal assistance, I will be able to secure some of our family assets and reestablish a home. Thank you so much.

Please consider looking up bipolar and its extremities. This is something neither Lindsey or Craig could have foreseen. Thank you for your contribution.
