A Life Raft for the Russ Wixom Family

Donation protected
Walking into their bedroom, Linda found Russ in bed and immediately sensed that something was wrong. When she touched his cold skin, the future they had planned together as they walked around the backyard of their newly purchased home the week before was completely shattered. Just two hours ago, she had kissed his warm face and took their son to soccer practice. Their love, their future, their kids, their home, and the weight of being suddenly alone merged with Linda's soul.

Linda and Russ describe themselves as late bloomers. Russ was a shy guy who had been on a ton of dates, but never had a girlfriend. Linda had been burned in a previous relationship and wished for someone who would treat her with kindness. With trepidation and not a lot of hope, they built a profile online. While avoiding the odd connections, a miracle occurred because they had both found their missing half. They were married in 2007, and, in quick succession, added two sons to their new family, now 10 and 12. They had little in the way of resources, but had so much love and happiness in their family. Linda managed the apartment complex where they were renting, which allowed her to stay home and raise their sons. Russ worked as a clerk at Weyerhauser until the company moved and ⅔ of their workforce was let go. Not one to stay down, Russ worked toward becoming an electrician and they saved for years until they finally could afford to buy their 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2,000 square foot home and leave the apartments behind. Along with this move, Russ got a  job as an Industrial Electrician, which he loved, in the Spokane area, with his new benefits starting on May 1st and his old benefits ending on March 31st. They had made it!

They felt like having their new home, especially for their boys, was a miracle. They were finally living the dream that they had built together, and had poured all their savings into. But the dream turned into a shattered dream on that fateful day of April 26th.

The darkest day for Linda has come to pass. Linda has lost her best friend and the love of her life. Linda misses Russ desperately. It took them so long to find each other, and now to be separated is incredibly painful. She misses her love, the most patient, loving husband, and father so much. Their boys, Robbie and Zach, feel like a part of their heart is missing.

As family, friends, and friends of friends, we ask you to give of yourself to ease their burden. For $50, you can lift their burden for a day. For $25, you can lift their burden for half a day. You can donate here or directly to Linda with Venmo @Linda-Wixom

I am Linda’s sister, and you, dear reader, are part of our family. If you have the means and the charity, we have presented some expenses that Linda and her sons do not know how to meet and with which they need help. For those unable to donate, we would value your sharing of Linda and Russ’s story, so that others may hear of their need.
