Help Lay Beautifully Talented Nicole Welke To Rest

Donation protected
As you know, no one is ever prepared for the loss of their significant other.  Let us come together and not only support Billy Burks while he navigates through his tremendous loss but give Nicole the beautiful farewell that she deserves. This GoFundMe will do just that. Salon Pop has brought so much to 4th Street. Billy and Nicole, the Salon Pop team and their clients are our friends, our neighbors, our customers, our community. We know the pandemic has been hard on the service industry and we would like to see Salon Pop survive this. Billy should not lose the love of his life and his business. Please join me and donate what you can, donations will be used to pay for final arrangements and Salon Pop business expenses allowing Billy time to grieve. Billy Burks is the sole beneficiary of this fundraiser and all proceeds minus any GoFundMe fees will go directly to Billy.

We know the end, but where to start…  We sit here and look at beautiful photos of you.  Listen to your beautiful music, yet suddenly, struck speechless and without words, any words, without your words.

Following are words from family and friends that we hope will bring all who loved Nicole some peace and comfort in her passing.  (Nancy Farber – Peña)

When you’ve known someone for 45 years, your lives become intertwined, weaving in and out of each other as life happens and changes. Nicole Welke and I had a life-long bond that transcended all the bullshit and I’m so sad to think we won’t have the chance to be old ladies together reminiscing about all the times we shared. She will be remembered as a talented musician and artist who always shared her fortune when she had it and always rooted for the underdog.

Love you and will miss you, my oldest friend. (Leslie Sandal)

Where it all began. With Nicole Welke . Tincher elementary school in Long Beach CA. This was the door to Miss Adwans class 2nd grade where we first felt the gravitational pull towards each other.  I am having a difficult time accepting u r gone. You were my one and only true happiness in my childhood life and u knew it. Everyone did. I spent almost every weekend and every chance I got to be near you. Countless sleep overs staying up all night playing with our stuffed animal unicorns Adam and Violet. Listening to Prince and The Revolution. Pretending we were Lisa and Wendy. Drawing. Making clothes. Laughing and crying. I have spent my entire life trying to fill the void that was left when we drifted apart. That gravity is still with me and has always kept pulling me back to you. You are so special to me. Now that you are gone I lay here ugly crying all night thinking this has to be some kind of nightmare.  My entire childhood ripped away so suddenly and unexpectedly.  My heart ripped from my chest. My only childhood happiness literally only happiness died with you. I can't accept you are gone. I will love an honor you, my very best friend and soulmate always. I will never stop talking about you to my children. I will never stop honoring and loving what we had together as little girls lost in a make believe world of unicorns and purple rain. I love u always. Nothing compares to you. (Jessica Bones)

Nicole was the most beautiful person and truly had such a gentle spirit. She did these photos for Sioux Guitars, and when Ryan posted them, she told him she felt so beautiful in them. She was beautiful, and she should still be here. I'm so sad and so angry and I'm really struggling processing her death. Sending all my love to Billy and wishing I could wrap my arms around them both right now.

It was wonderful getting to work with you, getting to know you, basking in the glow of your talent and beauty.

You helped me through some very dark times. I'll always love you and forever be in your debt, sweet heart. Rest in peace my friend.

Sending all my love to Billy Burks, family and the Salon Pop family.

Monday evening somebody, who, for a period of my life, was one of the most important people in the world to me, passed away. It was sudden and it was shocking.

She was an amazingly talented fine artist, musician, and singer who possessed an angelic voice that was equally at home growling out some OG riot grrl tunes, harmonizing to some girl-group grooviness, strumming along at a hootenanny, or belting out a beautiful Verdi aria.

She was a local business owner and a darling of her community. She brought light into everyone's life who knew her and thus all those same lives are quite a bit darker in her passing. (Peter Underwood)

Sweet, beautiful Nicole. Since receiving the horrible new yesterday, I have been trying to think of the right words. But the reality is, there are none sufficient enough to describe such a loss.

So, I just want to say Thank You. Thank you for always being kind and generous. Especially when it came to the critters. Whenever I was scouting local businesses for gift certificates to raffle off at local animal rescue fundraisers, you ALWAYS stepped up in a big way. Not only did you give several Salon Pop gift certificates, you also walked 4th Street with me to introduce me to some of the new business owners. I will miss you my fellow animal lover and champion of the underdog.

Rest easy, my friend. (Nadith Werth)
