Support Laura Rose... Her Fight to Live

Donation protected
Laura was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) in 2014.  This past year Laura’s condition continued to worsen so she chose to seek out a specialist at Duke University Hospital.   Through extensive testing, it is proven that Laura is genetically resistant to treatment for the CLL.  The goal was for Laura to have a Bone Marrow Transplant, but this past August, Laura’s cancer aggressively grew.  Laura started a clinical trial drug on September 24th and was hospitalized on September 27th at Duke University Hospital.  In 2 weeks of taking this clinical trial drug, it injured Laura’s kidneys causing acute renal failure.  Also through the extensive testing while being hospitalized, it is revealed that Laura actually has 2 cancers… an aggressive and resistant form of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and a Large B-Cell Lymphoma.    The Doctor gave Laura 3 options: 1. Let the kidneys shut down and she will die in about 7-10 days. 2. Start Hemodialysis and let the cancer take its course to buy her some time. 3. Start a 5 drug chemotherapy regiment every 3 weeks for 6 months in hopes that it would get and keep her stable.  This would give the kidneys time to recover hopefully making Laura eligible for Bone Marrow Transplant.   Laura HAS CHOSEN option 3.  She wants to fight for her life. We have alot of things AGAINST us.... 1. Acute Renal Failure in which we don't know if it is permanent or if the kidney function will recover 2. Large B-Cell Lymphoma 3. Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia which has bone involvement along with blood, lymph nodes, spleen 4. Blood clot in left arm and neck 5. Build-up of excessive fluid in tissue, abdomen, and lungs   What we HAVE FOR us.... Laura is a fighter and has a positive outlook and is determined to live. The Doctors at Duke University Hospital are the best and are doing everything in their power to help save her life.  And most of all, God has created this amazing body that is resilient and has the ability to heal.  After 54 days and currently still is in the hospital, Laura continues to get more stable every day.  Once released and in the following months, Laura will undergo at least 3 days a week of hemodialysis.  She will have 4 more cycles of chemotherapy and many trips back and forth to Duke University Hospital.  The hope is that Laura’s kidneys will start functioning again.  The goal is to get Laura to Bone Marrow Transplant.  During Bone Marrow Transplant, Laura and her wife Lynn will have to relocate to be close to the transplant center for at least 3 months.  Needless to say, this keeps Laura from being able to work a job.  Her wife Lynn is a 100% Disabled Combat Veteran and is on a fixed income.  There are many expenses that The Roses will have this coming year(s) i.e. medical supplies, medical bills, travel expenses, possible temporary relocation, and anything unforeseen.  Laura and Lynn would greatly appreciate any financial support you can give and prayers for total healing.   Much love from Team Rose! #beatcancer #grateful #gofundme #support #help #cancer #love #teamrose #laurarose
