Who I Am

 

 

 

 

 

Hello, my name is xenia lynn teresa williams, and I am launching my new social enterprise: the HoneyCombe Chamber.

 

The HoneyCombe Chamber specializes in making Baby Blankets and Art Print--inspired storybooks for children as a way to raise funds to offer programs that directly help women and men who have been traumatized by childhood abuse. We are going to teach bookkeeping and executive function skills to these women and men. We are going to start with the women's program first. Both programs are taught on the peer self-help support group model and will be led by experienced and licensed practitioners and professionals.

 

As a start-up we have some needs that will help us be more productive and to provide products such as the storybook HoneyBees. The breakdown is as follows:

 

 $3,000.00 to self-publish the children's book Honey Bees, via OutSkirts Press, and to purchase 100 copies initially,

 

 $3000.00 for the Omnia 7 in 1 BookBinding Press so I can make limited edition storybooks by hand

 

 $1250.00 for initial marketing/advertising (we also are a storefront so this will include traditional print marketing too),

 

 $1000.00 Fabric and Storage Furniture

 

 $ 750.00 for Portable Washer and Dryer (I currently walk to the laundry mat) see below for images

 

 $ 950.00 Industrial Sail Rite SZ Sewing Machine (my little Singer Tradition, is not going to last, and I want it to be able to keep up with the embroidery machine that I recently purchased).

 

 $4,500.00 ( my friend's husband is selling his used car for 3,500, and I would like to purchase it to go to farmer's markets and other networking venues).

 

 

I sew the blankets myself and create the art prints myself. Both activities I enjoy immensely and consider as part of my own healing process.

 

 

Why Am I Doing This

 

We see the lives of people in the news, one that most recently caught my eye is that of the mother, Taylor of the child Amari, who was killed by Taylor's boyfriend, Terrell. Not long after the arrest of Terrell, Taylor was arrested for prostitution.

 

If you have a Christian heart, you can see how each one of these souls has exhibited behaviors that are manifestations of brokenness that our society grapples with to address. Myself being a survivor of dysfunctional families (foster homes, and also within my original family), I understand how easily a person can become lost within their soul and their culture, and my desire is only to be able to address these maladaptive responses to economic, social and spiritual stress, in terms of essential activities of daily living, in a way that promotes deep healing of individuals and via their healing, a healing of the communities they resided in.

We are new, so anything to help us grow our presence on social media is a big help!

 

My colleagues and I are venturing out of our comfort zones, and I am also a survivor which is a lifelong process, but I have always had a desire to be able to help others who have experienced life the way I have, and who still have a desire to find a better way of living, to develop the courage to love and to most importantly to receive healthy love from healthy environments and families, and to create those healthy families and environments through their own lives.
