Help Latonya Beat Triple Positive Breast Cancer

If anyone has talked to our mom for more than five minutes, more than likely, you have heard of my sister and I. Roukaya (26) being the oldest, who was recently married in November 2019, and Soumaya (22) who is finishing up her senior year with a degree in biology at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. Our mom has dedicated her entire life to making sure we have everything we need, or have ever wanted. And part of that was finding a community that loves and supports us. We have found a community in our friends and family that have supported us through her.  In any situation, if anyone needed anything if she could help, consider it done.. If one  word could describe her, it would be selflessness.

Not even a year ago, while in school Soumaya was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis (MS). According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society it is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and the body. Upon learning about the disease, our mother quite literally within the same week, took a full time position at Home Depot to support my sister's medical expenses. While still maintaining her personal training clients Monday through Saturday. For our mother it wasn't even a question, her daughter needed something, and through her hard work and the support of our friends and family she was able to provide.

March 6, 2020 the roles were shifted. Our mom was diagnosed with Triple Positive Breast Cancer. Breast cancer varies in many different subtypes. Mom's subtype means the estrogen, progesterone, and HER2 receptors were all turned on in her particular tumor. The specifics of the size of her tumor dictated she needs to receive treatment first before moving to surgery. Breast cancer is divided into different grades, ranging one through three. The grade is based off of how much the cancer cell looks compared to a normal cell. As you increase the grade, the cancer cells look more abnormal. Mom's cells are considered grade three, which is the most aggressive and fast growing. At this stage, the cancer cells have spread beyond the original location and into the surrounding breast tissue. She will receive six cycles of chemotherapy every three weeks to combat the stage of the cancer, and will need a double mastectomy following radiation therapy.

As you know, our mother is a firm believer in the power of God, and she has not lost faith. Despite what may seem as the bleakest time in her life, she continues to praise while fighting. Even for people that may not agree with our mother's beliefs, at the very least her faith is admirable. Our hopes and prayers are that through this next year, our mother is able to focus on her health in every aspect, mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Our mother has worked 40 plus hours a week, to make sure that we have a home to come to, transportation, food, security, anything you can think of she has found a way to provide. You all know how she overworks herself, she has always done that, and more than likely she will continue as long as she can. We all know that cancer does not care how old you are, what type of job you have, if you have a home, a car, kids, whatever life a person has built. My sister and I pray that our mother doesn’t have to worry about everyday operations. We want her to be able to focus on her new victory over breast cancer. But the reality is, for this next year our mother's ability to work will be limited, close to none. Which is why we hope and pray for not only healing but provision. We pray with willingness and eagerness we all are able to support her, the same way she would if the roles were reversed.

We are grateful for any amount donated. We love you and thank you so much for your support.
