Larry Fisher Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Update: it is with great sorrow that Beth and I must tell you that Larry passed away last night. He was with Leone, and he did not suffer at the moment he crossed over. The world has lost a true creative genius, and the loss is irreplaceable. There will be a Memorial Service in the near future, and we will update through this Campaign. If you are a member of one of the many organizations that Larry was involved with, please pass this information on by sharing this campaign. Funeral expenses are now part of why we are asking for support. Please donate any amount if you can. ———————————————————— This is Barbara Poole, a 20+ year friend of Larry’s. I first met Larry at Disney World, where he was an Imagineer from Los Angeles inspecting rides on the Florida resort. After many cross country visits, I moved with him to Los Angeles from Connecticut, and back to Connecticut for my company. After ten years together, we ended our relationship, and have remained very close friends ever since. I am writing to let you know that Larry is gravely ill with Stage 4 Liver Cancer. In just three weeks time, what started in his liver, has metastasized to his intestines, and several lymph nodes, and has knocked him down completely. As a result of the Cancer and his first chemo treatment, he has experienced kidney failure, worsening liver function, and a weakening of his heart. He is currently receiving treatment at Loma Linda Medical Center in California. Please know that while calls would be appreciated, he is too ill to speak, as it drains what little strength he has. Now that this Go Fund Me is up and running, you will be updated regularly on his condition.

Larry is being cared for by a team of Oncologists, Kidney Specialists and other MDs. He was moved from Eisenhower Medical Center to Loma Linda Medical Center as the care there is more suited to his current illness. Larry is with Leone, his dear other half for many years. Leone met Larry in Wisconsin, relocated with him for work to Rhode Island, and then back to his beloved California, where he is currently the Executive DIrector of the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, on the grounds of the Los Angeles County Fairplex, which is also home to Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. They are both very happy together and have been for so long. Leone has not left Larry’s room since he was admitted, and sleeps by his bed each night. Her support is beyond measure, as is that of his Sister, Beth, and other relatives who are constant visitors since he was admitted to the hospital.

How does this happen to a seemingly healthy 58 year old man? How can he be fine one week, and the next, be diagnosed with such a life threatening illness? No one knows the answer. But the sorrow this family has been through over the past years - no one deserves to have been through.  Larry’s mother passed away from complications after suffering multiple strokes on Labor Day, September 2 this year.  His father was diagnosed with Stage 4 bone Cancer a week before Larry's mother passed away.  The Cancer metastasized to his brain, and he was put into hospice on August 30 this year, three days before Larry's mother passed away.  Larry was diagnosed with this rapidly growing Cancer on October 9 this year. As many of you know, Robert, Larry’s older brother, passed away from colon Cancer in 2017.

And now a word about Leone. Leone suffers from a rare autoimmune disease that weakens her bones. She has relied on Larry to be her rock since the time that they have been together. Unable to work, she is distraught at the thought of how she can manage day to day, now that
her Larry, always the strong one, has become the one who is relying on her. Larry is the sole support of the couple. All of the bills are paid by him. And now the medical bills are piling up, and Larry and Leone are adrift in a new place of hope as well as despair because the life they lived together is forever changed. We are asking for funds to pay housing, car payments and their basic needs  for the immediate future, as well as assistance with the medical bills that are fast becoming a burden that is too great to carry.

I am asking you to dig into your pockets and find some money for Larry and Leone. Whether it is a dollar or a hundred dollars or more, he is without the ability to manage for the two of them anymore. Go Fund Me works because of people sharing the story on Facebook and via emails. Whether or not you can donate, please share, share and share some more. Larry has suffered far too much in his young
life, and we are all he has right now. Thank you from the bottom of my and his family’s hearts.
