Help Kuma fight VKH

Donation protected
At the age of 2, Kuma has been diagnosed with a rare disease called Uveodermatological Syndrome.

It’s an autoimmune disease were the body creates antibodies against its own pigment cells and light-sensing cells in the back of the eye. This then leads to premature whitening of hair, skin depigmentation in the face (lips and nose) and foot pads, and a chance of acquiring glaucoma that will then lead to blindness or just directly into blindness.

There’s no cure but we have started treatment right away when he got diagnosed at the beginning of the year. He’s been taking oral steroids and steroid eye drops ever since. Kuma has been fully blind for atleast 2 months now and he’s adapting well.

Kuma’s seen an internal medicine specialist and an ophthalmologist and has recommended that kuma goes through eye removal surgery for both of his eyes. This would help make Kuma’s quality of life better as we would be able to lower down his steroid dosage which unfortunately has long term use side-effects.

Unfortunately, some of the side effects of the steroids has already started and we would like to get the eye surgery done as soon as possible.

Kuma is still very young and we’d like to give him the best life possible. Please help us help Kuma get the treatment that he needs.

Lastly, if you could please share this and help us spread the word, that would be much appreciated.

Every little thing helps out.
