Help Kirralee Pay for Top Surgery

It's Andrea (Kirralee's Fiancé) and I'm fundraising for Kirralee's upcoming Gender-Affirming Top Surgery in mid 2022 in Newcastle.

 

If you have been lucky enough to get to know Kirralee, you would know just how joyful, generous, and kind they are to all they meet. Your donation would mean the absolute world to Kirralee, as just some of the financial burden of Top Surgery (approx. $8,300 out of pocket) would be lightened from them.

Read below Kirralee's perspective on what Top Surgery means for them;

 

"Over the past year, I have reached out to medical physicians and have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria. This is something I have experienced for as long as I can remember. Since puberty, I’ve had chest dysphoria, although growing up, I didn’t have the language and knowledge to articulate my feelings. I felt quite alone in this and didn’t share it with others, until more recently, when I discovered there was an entire community that has had very similar experiences to me! I came out as non-binary to family and friends, which was both a very exciting but also a challenging time, as being vulnerable and expressing my authentic self to others comes with its judgements and many questions.

Over the past few years, and particularly more recently, my dysphoria has made daily life and self love very difficult. Though I have been binding everyday for over a year, I still feel a disconnect from this part of my body- like an incorrect ‘add on’, which is incredibly uncomfortable. My psychologist has deemed this surgery 'medically necessary', stating 'it shall greatly benefit their psychological wellbeing and overall quality of life'. This surgery is to align my gender expression with my gender identity.

 

The out-of-pocket cost of my top surgery is quoted at $8,300 ($10,600 total anticipated cost before rebate). I have a consultation with my Surgeon in Newcastle in March 2022 and am on the ‘edge of my seat’ in readiness for this surgery!"
