Help Kieran through cancer!

UPDATE: 12/7/20 Kieran has asked me to post an update: In April, we got the great news that Kierans cancer was stable with no sign of active disease. He was standing by himself and walking a few steps with support - we were so positive! However, in June Kieran starting getting neck & shoulder pain, with weakness into his left arm. He had an MRI scan, and we got the absolutely devastating news that his cancer had returned in two places in his cervical spine (neck). On the 15th June he had emergency neurosurgery at Bristol Southmead hospital to reduce the pressure on his spinal cord. We were told the surgery went well, and he would have radiotherapy to further treat it. We went home from hospital and started surgery recovery! (And got engaged!! ) Two weeks after the surgery, Kieran started getting more neck pain, he was unable to use his legs and left hand, with his right hand getting weak too. We went back to hospital, where another MRI showed the tumour they operated on had grown back in the 2 weeks, to a worse state than it was before his surgery. Kierans specialists were discussing options of further surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy. They decided on radiotherapy, and chemotherapy to start next week, however we have been given the utterly heartbreaking and devastating news that Kierans cancer is worse than last year, and they no longer think it can be cured. Kieran now won’t be able to walk again, and his response to the treatment will determine if he will be able to use his hands again, to use cutlery and his phone. His treatment will aim to reduce his pain and improve his mobility as much as possible, and we are trying to find somewhere to live that’s fully adapted to Kierans needs. The support from everyone and the gofundme over the past year has been unbelievable, and we ask you to share this update to continue raising funds for items needed for Kierans mobility, such as an electric wheelchair, house adaptions, and to reduce the financial burden that this disease can cause with us both being unable to work at the moment. Please feel free to send messages to Kieran, however with him struggling to use a phone he may not reply, but will see them all. Thank you so much, From Kieran & Kelly xx Original post: Help support Kieran through cancer!

Last week our lives were completely flipped upside down when Kieran was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, called Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumour (PNET). The cancer is on his spinal cord and in his lungs.

Kieran is only 24 years old, and a fit and healthy postman, so this news has been absolutely devastating and a massive shock for everyone.

For 3 months prior to his diagnosis, Kieran had been suffering with severe back pain, leg numbness and an increasing inability to walk. After numerous trips to the doctors and A&E he was finally admitted to hospital 2 weeks ago. After extensive testing, biopsies and scans they found his diagnosis. After this he underwent major spinal surgery on 4th July to reduce some of the pressure on his spine in the hope, with intensive physio, he can walk again and be more mobile.

Due to the rarity of the cancer, Musgrove Park Hospital cannot treat it, therefore within the next week Kieran will be transferred to Bristol where they will start chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

We set up this gofundme page to make life a little bit easier for Kieran, by helping to support him financially through the challenges ahead, and to help those closest to him traveling to and from Bristol to visit Kieran and give him the support he needs.

Any donations will be so gratefully received. We don’t have a target, just want to raise as much as we can for him.

Thank you for all the love and support ❤️
