Kendra is in need of IMMEDIATE funds to help support her training as a doula and provide stability for herself while she is in the hospital suffering from chronic health struggles. Her inability to work makes it harder to fund these courses and she needs all the support we can give her <3
Her experiences with her health struggles have emboldened her drive to become a doula and provide better support and health care for black women.
Kendra is beautifully passionate about this work and she deserves to accomplish these courses stress-free and with lots of comfort and care <3
A message from Kendra:
I am currently enrolled in two programs that I am working on certification for, they are Mama Glow and DONA International . I have paid for both of these programs 100% myself but now I need your help to continue training that I believe will round out my services as a Full Spectrum Doula.
Systemic racism runs deep in our healthcare system within Canada and over the years I have personally experienced the very real injustices myself, which led me down the path to becoming a Full Spectrum Doula.
Having a Doula is currently a privilege for birthing folx and with your support, I hope to use my training to not only support these black birthing folx but to also train existing Doulas to best support and educate black families on the benefits of having a Doula/Birth Advocate with them on their journey.
I personally have invested $2000 of my own money for this journey. Currently, I am on disability leave which has me reaching out to my community for this support as we work to diagnose unknown health issues that I have been struggling with.
Black lives matter, black birth workers matter, our community matters.
