Scruffys Murphys, Birminghams longest standing Rock venue has been in existence since 2001 and has been one of Birminghams Best Independent Rock Pubs and Music Venues ever since.
Since opening, Scruffys has become a significant place in the rock and metal scene, not just here in the UK, but all over the world. Scruffys has been able to host bands and patrons, from all over the globe including the Uk, USA, Australia, Singapore, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France and many many more!
It has been such a significant part of the scene that we have been very fortunate to have many high ranking people do us the honour of coming down, such as Lemmy from Motorhead, Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lamb Of God, Napalm Death and also being recommended by Corey Taylor from Slipknot and the Vinnie Paul from Pantera.
The bands that play amazing sets every week, the patrons that come in every day and have a great time, these are the people, YOU are the people who have helped make Scruffys what it is, and have helped create a legacy!
2020 has been a very challenging year for all. Very few people expected this to progress to the level that it has, and everyone needs the support from each other. This year has brought about so much illness, sadness and unfortunately the many lives that have been taken from us. From all of us at Scruffys, we offer our deepest sympathies for those who have been affected, but also our sincerest condolences for anyone who has had to suffer a loss through this pandemic, our thoughts go out to everyone. The most we can do is stay safe and keep our families and friends safe.
Aside from the personal impact this year has had on people, businesses are struggling too. The hospitality trade and entertainment industry being two of the worst hit by this, so please, where you can, support each other.
2021 will mark the 20th anniversary of the birth of Scruffys. We’ve had an incredible 20 years, and all we want is to see it continue for another 20 years (minimum!).
After Christmas is the low period for the hospitality sector. We’ve starting this campaign because we need to. It may sound like a lot of money, but unfortunately it costs an insane amount to run a venue.
We’re calling on everyone who loves Scruffys, all the bands that have played over the years, the bands that still play, the families, the friends, every single person that has helped to create the Scruffys Legacy, we need you help. If you can, please remember that from the bottom of our hearts it is appreciated, and hopefully we can ride through this, and be able to get back to being the Scruffys that we all love.
