Hi, my name is Megan & six years ago, my cousin Caitlin made a bold move from Scotland to Australia on a working holiday visa. She quickly fell in love with the country, built a life here, and became part of our close-knit family community. Like so many others, her plans were thrown into chaos when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Flights were grounded, borders were closed, and she was stuck—unable to leave, but also unable to stay long-term without securing a new visa.
To remain in Australia legally, she found a sponsor and began working tirelessly as a restaurant manager. She has continued to contribute to the community, pay taxes, and build a life here—alongside her beloved dog, Billie.
But now, due to sudden changes in Australian immigration policy, the occupation of restaurant manager has been taken off the skilled worker list. This leaves her with just 9 weeks to apply for a Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) visa—her final pathway to permanent residency.
This visa is expensive, and after years of paying visa fees, legal costs, and supporting herself through everything, she’s run out of options. If she can’t come up with the funds in time, she’ll be forced to leave Australia and return to Scotland—a country she hasn’t called home in over half a decade. Her life, her dog Billie, and her entire support system are all here.
We’re asking for your help. Any contribution—no matter how small—will go directly toward her TRT visa application and help her stay in the only place that truly feels like home.
Please share this post and help us keep our cousin with her family and fur baby in Australia, where she belongs.
The visa - $4900
Visa professional fee - $5500
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
