Flux History:

Flux Movement Lab has been a private, cooperative vision for the past two and a half years. Flux was born out of an idea to create a collaborative space for us to come together, and explore the various healing and creative arts. These arts include dance, meditation, acro, aerials, juggling, building, breath work, Qi Gong, Yoga, and simply general communion with others. Our structure has always been focused on making these arts, and others not mentioned available to all people in our community regardless of their ability for financial exchange.

For the first year, the founder, Ross Anderson, supported this space financially on his own, taking whatever contributions towards rent/bills, and making up the difference. After about a year of this, he asked the community to help share the load, and came up with a model that is community supported.  The basic model is that a group of about 14 people are committed to supporting the space financially. We take any contributions to the space, subtract them from the total cost, and split that evenly. Depending on the month, it was anywhere from $40-80 for that group depending on donations. Students contributed directly to instructors, who then contributed to the space. We operate very simply and have cultivated a strong community based on people's generosity .  We are applying for non-profit status at present, and once that goes through processing we will be official!

The environment at Flux immediately prior to Corona Lockdown was one of vitality and success.  With the group cooperative we had found sustainability, and the space was in use in some way or another many hours of the day every day. In most given weeks, we had a community of 40-50 people that would pass through the doors for classes, jams, events, or just simply to hang out. It was such a challenging decision to close our doors and we miss you all deeply but we are grateful everyday for your health and wellbeing.

Mission:

Flux Movement Lab's mission is to make accessible the healing attributes of movement and healing arts through a collective mindset. Flux Movement Lab shares acrobatics, yoga, meditation, dance, aerials, flow arts, circus arts, and other healing arts. We intend to be a supportive and safe community for people to commune and share movement arts for the purpose of self-exploration and growth.

Through a collective consciousness and sustainable practices, we contribute by providing space for training, sharing, support and healing through community building. We wish to make education, movement and arts therapy accessible to everyone. This association exists to facilitate change through the personal transformation, in order to raise the collective consciousness on earth.

Flux Movement Lab has relied on your contributions to keep us alive and running. In these times where we have no means of gathering, your contributions still are needed to keep our doors open, and soften the impact of these challenging times. We still are paying for our bills, and doing our best to stay afloat. Your contributions in this time will go directly to our rent, utilities, and insurance, all of the things that allow us to make it through this time. A contribution to our cause is a contribution that will help ensure longevity and sustainability for this community space we have all come to love. Thank you all for your support, we can't wait to see you on the other side of this when we can meet again and celebrate life together again!
