Help Keagan's Treatment / Recovery

As some of you know, our beloved grandson, Keagan, has struggled fiercely with life challenges the past few years.  Unfortunately, it has continued to the point he has made several attempts on his own life in the past few weeks.  The latest being dangerous to the point 911 had to be called and he has been hospitalized.  We are all heartsick and devastated.  We know it will be a long and difficult journey back to peace.  If you have not read about it, teen suicide and depression are a rising crisis in this country.  Keagan is in a safe and healing hospital setting and we are grateful for that.  I think we are all aware of the sad state of mental health in this country but, sadly, it is even worse for children needing help.  Amanda, Joe and Dan have all missed considerable time from work.  They understand how important it is for them to make this the top family priority right now.  In addition to love and moral support, he will need dedicated supervision for some time to ensure his safety.  Amanda has applied for a leave of absence and may get some short term disability at some point.  Joe is trying to get back to work next week.  In the meantime, funds are needed for gas, food and, most importantly, the many medical expenses.  They are blessed to have insurance but there are still considerable cost for co-pays, deductibles and uncovered costs.  Insurance companies still lag behind in covering mental health issues adequately.
