I found a small lump in February and after a biopsy I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I had a lumpectomy on March 23, 2018, but the little lump was a rapid growing Carcinoma and by the time I had it taken out in March it had progressed to Stage 2. Because of this I decided to treat it with everything they have. I have had my first chemo treatment, and my hair is starting to fall out and will be for a while, it's about a week away until I just have it all gone. I had to take a leave of work and with Mike Tuckfield and I changing and moving school districts we were working in, I didn't have any leave for the last six weeks of of the school year. Also, changing districts was a big hit on our medical insurance, and for the first time in years, Mike and I found ourselves without double coverage, and with a big out of pocket deductible. I was ask by a friend last night why I hadn't posted it on Facebook, and what she could do to help. Well first of all I have not wanted to alarm anyone, or have the cancer define me. I have so many many students and former students out there who I don't want to worry. I'm going to fight this with everything I have, and anything you can give will help my fight!
