Help Kai Get a Green Card!

Hi all,

I'm asking for your help for me to stay in the U.S. so I can continue to work in the eating disorder field here. Why the US?

Well... Long story short:

1) Japan doesn't have any established ED treatment. Plus, I'd have to go to a whole other school if I wanted to work as an RD in another country.

2) I don't have a lot of rights as LGBTQ+ person in Japan. Plus, most of my friends, esp. queer friends are here.

I am working with my immigration lawyer to pursue a process called National Interest Waiver. This process allows me to obtain a green card based on my extensive education and training in the eating disorder field without my employer's commitment to me.

My lawyer, who specializes in working with medical professionals says the likelihood of my getting approved for NIW/Green Card is reasonable given my CV, so that's gotta mean something, right? Even if my employer says my position as an RD isn't "unique enough" and doesn't want to sponsor me.

This whole NIW/Green Card process costs at least $11K USD. This can go up as the USICS increases its fees all the time. Here's the breakdown:
