Help Jordy, onze zoon, onze broer en onze allerbeste vriend overleven!
In januari 2019 kreeg Jordy (23 jaar) het alles verwoestende nieuws te horen, hij heeft osteosarcoom oftewel een kwaadaardige tumor. Een zeer agressieve vorm van botkanker die zich heeft geuit in zijn linkerbekken en onderrug. Vanaf dat moment begon het gevecht voor zijn leven. Een heel traject volgde, chemotherapieën en bestralingen. Het mocht niet baten, de tumor in zijn linkerbekken bleek zo groot te zijn dat er een risicovolle operatie aan te pas moest komen. Jordy verloor zijn been en bekken.
Een groot offer wat hij moest geven om zijn leven te redden. Anderhalf maand na de operatie, bleek het nog meer slecht nieuws te zijn. Ondanks de doktoren hadden gehoopt de tumor compleet te verwijderen met de amputatie, bleek dit niet het geval. Jordy heeft uitzaaiingen in zijn longen. Het is behandelbaar, maar het is te vroeg na de vorige ingrepen om te opereren. Er kon niets worden gedaan. “Op zo’n moment zakt de grond echt onder je voeten vandaan”, zegt Jordy’s moeder.
Na twee jaar is het traject nog niet teneinde, Jordy vecht tot op de dag van vandaag nog voor zijn leven. Hoewel ze in Nederland niets meer kunnen doen voor hem, blijkt dat ze in Spanje Jordy nog wel kunnen behandelen.
Ondanks de vele tegenslagen die Jordy heeft gehad, en die blijven komen, geeft hij het gevecht niet op! Elke dag staat Jordy positief op en blijft hij zijn vrolijke en grappig zelve. Help Jordy, our son, our brother and our best friend survive!
In January 2019 Jordy (23 years old) received the devastating news, he has osteosarcoma or a malignant tumor.
A very aggressive form of bone cancer that has manifested itself in his left pelvis and lower back. From that
moment on, the fight for his life began. A whole process followed, chemotherapy and radiationtherapy. It was to no avail,
the tumor in his left pelvis turned out to be so large that a riskful operation had to be carried out. Jordy lost his
leg and pelvis.
A great sacrifice he had to give to save his life. A month and a half after the surgery, it turned out to be even more
bad news. Although the doctors had hoped to remove the tumor completely with the amputation, this turned out not to be
the case. Jordy has metastases in his lungs. It is treatable, but it is too early after the previous procedures to operate.
Nothing could be done. “At such moments, the ground really drops from under your feet,” Jordy's mother says.
After two years, the trajectory is not yet over, Jordy is still fighting for his life to this day. Although they can no longer
do anything for him in the Netherlands, it appears that they can still treat Jordy in Spain.
Despite the many setbacks Jordy has had, and they keep coming, he won't give up the fight! Every day Jordy wakes up positively
and he remains his cheerful and funny self. He continues to embrace life and enjoy life to the fullest with his friends and family.
