Help join David's fight against Seminoma Cancer

Donation protected
David is 31 years old and has Down Syndrome. He is a fun loving individual who is full of life with a mischievous personality. He is loved by so many as he has the ability to brighten anyone's day with his affection and charm. He loves WWE wrestling, watching movies, swimming, and above all... Pizza! Just a day with him, and he will steal a piece of your heart forever.  Unfortunately, David was diagnosed with Seminoma cancer in April 2017, and started radiation treatments in July of the same year. After five long months, the radiation was successful and David underwent an invasive surgical procedure to remove the tumor. In early 2019, after multiple trips to the ER for reoccurring UTIs, we received horrible news; his cancer had returned. He was then diagnosed with Recurrent Seminoma Cancer in the prostate, and we were also informed that he had suffered severe internal scarring on his bladder, kidneys, and uritheters due to the radiation treatments. Due to the internal damage, David had to undergo a procedure to place a permanent pubic catheter as his bladder was no longer functioning properly. In December of 2019 he began his long, strenuous, and painful chemotherapy treatments. Being the warrior he is, he successfully finished his chemo treatments in May of this year of 2020. He is now undergoing tests and procedures for the planning of his second surgery to remove the second tumor, and the reconstruction of his urethra. If successful, he will not have to keep the permanent catheter in place, and we hope he can live a normal life without the restrictions that he's had to live with since having the procedure. Unfortunately, his team of doctors in El Paso, TX will not be performing the surgery, as they are not trained or equipped for such a complicated operation. Due to the unfortunate results of a PET scan he had done on Monday September 21st showing the turmor has begun to grow again, they have recommended and are submitting a transfer for David to be seen and treated at MD Anderson in Houston, TX to initiate a new treatment plan and to perform the surgical operations. We are being informed and forwarned that he may need to be hospitalized for three or more months for recovery and rehabilitation. It is possible he may have to stay in Houston for all this time and could be a while before he can return home to El Paso.. During the stay in Houston, our family could possibly face a financial hardship as only medical expenses are covered. Living, travel, food, and any unexpected expenses will be our responsibility. With being in Houston for such a long time, Sarah, his mom will have to be at his side every waking moment and will not have the ability to work or have a sustainable income during his treatments and recovery. We are asking for any financial and or emotional assistance that can be spared in this difficult time that our family is faced with. Anything helps, and will be greatly appreciated as it will help offer peace of mind for David and our family while they are hundreds of miles away from home facing the long journey ahead.
