Help Joey live his best life!
Hi my name is Maria and I am fundraising for my Spoodle dog Joey. These funds are to help him access ongoing treatment to give him the full and happy life he deserves.
Joey was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes recently and requires intense treatment to keep him alive. The vet said that only 1 of 5 people take on this treatment for their pets because of the enormous commitment and financial cost it involves.
- Weekly vet visits initially to adjust to the right insulin he needs. These require him to be on a drip for 8 hours.
- Twice daily insulin injections at 12 hour intervals after his 2 meals
- Constant glucose monitoring to make sure his levels are safe and he wont suffer seizures or collapse, requiring emergency hospitalisation.
There is an easy option but I don't want to go there, thinking about that for my boy just breaks my heart.
After listening to our vet consultation my husband's opinion was not the same as mine, he told me that I was on my own with my decision . Not only did this mean I would struggle financially but also emotionally with this lack of support. My fur baby deserves to live a full, healthy life and continue to bring joy and healing to our lives with his gentle and caring nature. The vet has advised that this is possible if his condition is treated.
Joey has a unique personality which is immediately apparent to everyone who meets him. He is smart, cheeky, loves walks to the park, learning tricks, putting up with his mamma's demands and those that know him know that he loves to wear clothes. In fact he even has socks, boots, rain coats jumpers, bow ties and costumes. Joey enjoys celebrating his birthdays every year with party hats, balloons and cake and of course unwrapping his presents.
Joey has so much more to enjoy in life and has even a delightful fiance that he loves to connect with online.. His fiance Tilly-Anne is also a spoodle and she is so in love with him.
Joey is my shadow and the love he gives me is unconditional. I am willing to make the commitment to keep him healthy and to ensure that he lives the best life he can. With this support I will be able to lessen the struggles I know I will have to keep him in good health. You don't know true love until you experience it with your Pets.
