Help Joe, Tiffany & Carter born 3 months early

***April 12th, 2022***

Monumental day for us. After 355 days in the NICU/PICU/Almost Home Kids, we have FINALLY brought our baby boy home! I vowed never to post on social media again until I could say those words. Carter has made it through extreme prematurity, 5 surgeries, countless procedures, contracting norovirus and c-diff in the hospital to get to this day. He’s a true warrior and has a level of strength we all should aspire for. We still have a long road ahead as he grows and we slowly wean him off the vent. All in his time. We spent months and months training and developing the skills to care for a baby with a trach/vent/g-tube to be able to take him home. We have at home nursing care until his lungs heal from the major hit they took and he no longer needs a trach.

Thank you for your continued support & prayers.

On Friday, April 23rd I received a text from my brother Joe... he and Tiffany are buying a house! I congratulated him and moved on with my weekend as I was out of town.  Little did any of us know just how fast life would change not even 12 hours later.   From what I have gathered, Tiffany was suffering from preeclampsia- a very dangerous condition that women can experience during pregnancy and it affects the blood pressure amongst some other things, so they needed to perform an emergency C-section.  Baby Carter Giovanni Polizzi was born around 9:20 pm, and quickly taken to Lurie’s Children’s NICU... one of the best, if not THE BEST, while Tiffany remained inpatient across the street at Northwestern.

For those of you that know these two, just for me to be telling you this information is in itself a miracle! But they need our help, our prayers and our support. Joe lost his Mom 2 days prior to his birthday this year, a friend a few weeks later, has been on furlough up until this week, and now is at reduced hours. They’ve been fortunate enough to get into Ronald McDonald House so they can be close to baby Carter, but this little guy has alreadyhad at least 2 surgeries in his first week of life:  intestinal and stomach.

The medical bills alone are going to be astronomical, even with insurance coverage, the out of pocket will still need to be paid.  The house, and just cost of living in general.  We never even had a chance to throw Tiffany a shower- I know her dear friend was planning on that, as well as Joe’s stepmom, so they’re going to need EVERYTHING.

We know times are tough for a lot of people right now, but if you have ever been touched by Tiffany or Joe throughout your life, they could really use your support right now.

Thanks, and keep those prayers coming!
