Help Jessie have a fighting chance

Donation protected

Hello,

We are raising money for our dear friend Jessie to help pay for medication and living costs while she battles secondary lung cancer at just 33 years old.

About Jessie

Jessie’s story started in 2014 when a growth appeared on the palm of her right hand. After countless doctor’s visits, being told it was a cyst or a tendentious, Jessie finally found a doctor who stopped and listened and referred her on to the right place where she finally received her diagnosed - Synovial Sarcoma - a rare and often aggressive form of tissue cancer.

Jessie went through months of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, resulting in losing a finger, yet throughout all of this Jessie kept a massive smile on her face, never complained, and always thought of others, even raising money for a young girl also with Sarcoma to go to swim with a famous dolphin in Florida.

Before her diagnosis, Jessie met an incredible guy, Thanda, who was there for her through every appointment, every treatment, all the ups and downs.

Fast forward to 2018, Jessie and Thanda moved from their lovely home in Chelmsford to Jersey where they set up the most amazing business ‘Little Extra Love’ Offering a range of classes and workshops in Parkour, Performing Arts for those with additional needs, Cecchetti Ballet and babywearing dance classes.

Jessie had 3 monthly scans after the successful removal of the primary tumour- to keep an eye on any cancer regrowth. At all the appointments Jessie was told ‘all clear’.

In 2019 Jessie and Thanda got married in a small, intimate ceremony… with even bigger news following when they found out Jessie was pregnant with Twins.

On July 3 2020, Jessie gave birth to two beautiful baby girls… Aquila and Starla. The two happiest, loving and adorable little girls.

Unfortunately, just two days later Jessie was taken back to hospital after having breathing problems. A scan at Jersey hospital revealed that Jessie had secondary lung cancer. Days later Jessie, Thanda, the baby girls got the boat over to Southampton where Jessie was to start her treatment. While there, Jess had to stay in the hospital while receiving unexpected surgery early on, then for her chemo thereafter meaning she was away from the girls days at a time when they were only weeks old.

Back in Jersey for Christmas 2020 waiting to see how effective the chemo was and in January 2021, Jessie was given some good news that the chemo has seemingly worked. The next step was to have an Ablation to freeze the tumors. On the day of this treatment in March 2020, Jessie went to Southampton and was put under for surgery. She was awoken to the bad news that in the time elapsed, the tumours had regrown and they weren’t able to proceed.

Since March Jessie has gone through more chemo, which has made her unwell and unfortunately not had the results we all hoped for.

Chemo is no longer working and Jessie is looking for alternative treatments to help save her life. Which is what we are raising money for.

With the cancer treatment, COVID and with looking after the girls, Jessie and Thanda haven’t been able to carry on with Little Extra Love which has been a passion of theirs, so been very hard for them. With not being able to work, these funds will also help with general living costs for Jessie and her family.

For anyone who knows Jessie knows what an incredible person she is. She is so kind, so loving and so brave. It breaks my heart that she is having to go through this.

Thank you so much for reading about Jessie’s story. We hope that you can help support with any donation possible.

As Jessie is unwell in hospital at the moment, we have made her uncle David Minty beneficiary of the fund on behalf of Jessie and Thanda and he will manage their finances while they focus on making sure Jessie gets better. David sees and speaks to both Jessie and Thanda daily to discuss medical needs and allocation of the funds to support these. We want to keep as much stress off of Jessie as possible.

Following Jessie’s update, you’ll see that she is currently in Hospice for some respite. We are hoping that she can come home soon once her pain meds are under control. This fundraiser is now primarily to support the families cost of living and supplements etc that Jess is continuing to take to try and rebuild her strength
