Help Jerith's Family After Heartbreaking Accident

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Jen, and if you are reading this, Jerith has touched your life in some way.

After a year of tremendous ups and downs, our friend, Jerith B. has experienced a serious accident resulting in a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Over the last year or so, Jerith developed a love for outdoor riding and while on a trail ride in early June, she suffered a fall from her horse, resulting in several skull fractures. TBIs carry severe impacts from brain swelling, cranial hemorrhages and other functional impairments that are yet to be determined.

We are turning all of our thoughts and energies to her recovery and support for her loved ones with the help of a wonderful ICU team of nurses, doctors and staff.

We have faith that love and support will bring Jerith out of the ICU, and soon. But we expect extended rehabilitation efforts and costs to support long term care. We don’t know how difficult or how long the recovery period will be. The best medical advice and guidance indicates it will be a long road home with a new normal of unknowable challenges ahead of us. Navigating the healthcare system, coordinating support and keeping up on day-to-day responsibilities is going to be a challenge and we have just begun rebuilding with your help.

COVER JERITH AND HER LOVED ONES WITH CARE

We know you want to show your support. In times like these, it’s hard to know what to say, what to ask, and when to just sit and silently share this pain with our friends.

The family and immediate circle of care has shared these are the best ways to show support right now:

Give Financial Help
If you can contribute financially, every penny is meaningful and will help. Your dollars will go to the medical expenses and costs of care that will give Jerith the best chance for recovery. Day-to-day responsibilities haven’t gone away and your donations will help us keep up on meals, bills and tasks like walking her dogs with special needs.

Send comfort in!
Jason, the family, and all the loved ones sitting in hospital rooms, waiting for news and summarizing updates need your support. Please help them direct their focus to caring for Jerith and for themselves. This means limiting questions, letting the family share info as their emotional resources allow and waiting for them to ask for help on their terms. We also need you to share your stories here (https://forms.gle/XLN5zNXoPANS4UPm8) , so that we can read them at her bedside. Send your favorite poems, short stories, or any letter/message you want to share with her. This will let her know she's in our thoughts and that we can't wait to make more memories with her.

Spread the word and the Love
If you can signal boost this message, that will help. We're trying to reach everyone who has been supported, felt seen or welcomed by our friend, Jerith, in any way. Although we aren’t in a place to accept flowers or visits at this time, gifts to this page will be the most effective way to console and comfort the people looking after her and her home every day. We need you, like we never have before.
This is heavy news, and our hope is we can lighten the burden by sharing this info with chosen family, friends and all the people who know and love Jerith. She has spent decades building connections, community, and sharing her love for education with those around her. We hope the network she’s cultivated will now serve as a safety net of care and support in a difficult and scary time. Everything resulting from this page will go to them and the immediate care circle embracing Jerith right now.

Please tweet, pledge, and share with your friends. For everyone who carries a memory of a kind word or welcoming gesture from Jerith, she needs you now.
