Help Jeff McCarty Fix His Teeth.

Hi, I'm Jeff McCarty. I'm raising money to fund the repair of my teeth.

I've been a multiple myeloma patient now for 5 years.
This past year has been incredibly hard on me.

Due to chemotherapy and pain medications, my teeth are completely ruined and I need 15 crowns.

My original intention was to just have them removed and get dentures. Upon a few visits to the oral surgeon, he stated, "I'm nervous about removing your teeth because of the zometa."

Zometa is a bone strengthener that was given to me on a regular basis. After you've had stage 3 myeloma, the bones are and likely will remain in an osteoporitic state. Zometa helps to temporarily strengthen them. I'm 44 and look okay on the outside, but inside it's like I'm 64 and feels that way on a fair share of days too.

You see, the zometa caused the roots of my teeth to fuse to my jawbone. Taking the teeth out now could cause major health consequences, even death.

So, based on the oral surgeon's answer, it looks like I'm going to have to get crowns put on most all of my teeth. When someone turns down $3500 by telling me something like that, I tend to listen.

I did have one pulled before we decided it wouldn't be the right thing to do. It took 30 shots and 5 hours to pull ONE molar. I felt like I had been in the octagon for a couple rounds after that one. Rather not do that again. That was over four months ago, and it's STILL healing!

Each crown will cost $1000 and this is after the dentist giving a steep discount to me because he feels I should have a certain type of crown. I need 15 of them plus two major fillings. Plus fees here and I will find the other $800 somewhere.

I've been to the bank and applied for a loan, got
denied due to my credit. Tried for a couple other
smaller loans even and got denied.

The county health alliance offers assistance, but there
are qualifications and loopholes to fit through. Plus I
would be concerned about the level of experience the
dentist there had based on my condition.

I've talked to a family member who makes good money, but just got out of school. I asked him to allow me to be
an authorized user on one of his credit cards to help
me build my credit back up. But it turns out he's covered in debt and it wouldn't be an option. And this was just for me to rebuild my credit before reapplying for another loan. Meanwhile having to "baby" my teeth during that time to avoid getting sick or requiring them to have root canals.

We are right on the verge of needing root canals now. The dentist has expressed that he can still save my teeth with crowns and no root canals, but it must be done very soon.

So, as you can see, I'm between a boulder and a real
big hard place.
