Help Jason Get Off Disability

Donation protected
Jason suffered his first severe migraine headache when he was 15 years old.  The horrible pain drove him to his knees.  He is now 44, and the pain continues to try to keep him down.  His is an illness that does not kill the body but destroys the life.   I have witnessed Jason’s struggle.   I am his mother.

After all the years of battling the migraines, and despite everything modern medicine can do, the pain has increased in severity and frequency.  Jason worked in the computer industry until the intractable migraine pain and its resulting demons, depression and anxiety, totally disabled him.  For the past nine years, he has lived alone in a small apartment.  His only contacts are his family and some loyal Facebook friends.  His only income is his Social Security Disability check, which covers basic needs and some medical and dental expenses.  Jason is in daily pain, bedridden in the dark and quiet approximately 15 days of every month.  He stays current with world affairs through his computer.  He does not own a television, does not go out socially and does not smoke or drink alcohol.  Still, by the end of the month, there is no money left for quality of life extras, or even to try some treatments and medications to control migraine headaches that are more expensive than he can afford.

Jason is a highly intelligent man and an avid reader.   A lifetime student of the world, in better times he maintained a library of over 1500 titles of all different genres.  He wants to apply his love for literature and his skill with the written word to becoming a freelance proofreader/copy editor.  He needs to become certified in this field by taking online classes.  He dreams of completing this education and working from home as much as his health will allow.  Ultimately, he hopes to be able to support himself fully, and no longer need to depend on Social Security disability payments to live.  The classes, materials, and software required to get the necessary certifications are out of reach for him financially.

That is why I am coming to you.  Please help us raise enough money for Jason to have this opportunity, not only to work for a better quality of life, but to regain the pride in accomplishment that chronic pain has stolen from him.  Whatever help you can offer will be forever appreciated.  Starting a new career at age 44 is tough for anyone and Jason has more challenges than many, but we can promise that he will do his absolute best.  Please let others know about Jason.  Thank you.
