Help Jasmine’s Tuition to Study in Seoul, SK

Hello, I’m Jasmine! I am an Asian American girl in my junior year of high school. This past year, I was accepted into a language program in South Korea to further pursue my goals of: being able to communicate with more individuals, experiencing and understanding new cultures, and learning life-long skills of adaptability and independence.

My parents have always emphasized the importance of learning a language- it’s how we communicate, connect, and learn with one another. Growing up, I was encouraged to attend Saturday School to speak, understand, write, and read Vietnamese. Although I was adamantly against this breach in my weekend, this opportunity allowed me to speak with my relatives and truly appreciate the culture and love they had for me. Eventually, I became fluent enough to teach young children Vietnamese. This new appreciation that developed from learning a language pushed me to pursue bigger goals.

In high school, I decided to learn Spanish as it is a widely spoken language. Unfortunately, I only had half a year of in-person learning before COVID pushed us online. Majority of my progress was digital, but I even pushed to do Charter School last summer in hopes of polishing my learning. Needless to say, my Spanish is not as strong.

However, I continued to venture and explore in hopes of learning more languages. My admission to a summer language program in Korea allows me to completely immerse and learn Korean because it is far different from learning on a screen. In the past decade, Korean culture and entertainment have made a huge impact on the world. If I can study this language, I could communicate and learn more with thousands of individuals. Studying abroad appeared like a mere dream that wasn’t achievable. Although I have personally worked a job since my sophomore year to make this possible- the tuition, airplane costs, and food expenses are costly. I would truly appreciate it if you could help me in my pursuits and love for communication and culture. Thank you!
