Help Jasmine & her Dad After Harvey

Jazz was a cool, funny force in my English class last spring. She lives in Houston (like so many UHV students) so I messaged her, along with everyone else I was worrying about up there during the worst of the flooding to check on her status.  And she told me the storm had hit her and her dad really hard. 

She'd been with her cousins during the storm, while her dad was holed up in his first floor apartment near a bayou. When they realized he needed to get out, it was already too late:

"They didn't tell them to leave until that day but by noon the water was up to his waist. They moved him and his roommate to the 3rd floor of the complex with hardly any food and no TV. All my dad was able to get was all his important paper work that belongs to the both of us. While his roommate was taken to a shelter, my dad stayed. Too shell shook to go anywhere." He has no place he can sleep right now "other than his car.  My dad has only 4 pairs of jeans and some shirts to his name."

Meanwhile, Jazz is in a tight spot herself, because she could not work for days, and school (and disbursements) have been delayed by two weeks. And when she got home to Victoria, someone had robbed her apartment--they took her food!

I'd like to be able to get Jazz and her dad some cash towards groceries and rent--they're both in such a tight spot, they can't be a safety net for each other right now. (Jazz can't afford to drive back to Houston to help him at the moment). Hoping we can be a little bit of a safety net for them until they get back on their feet.

I am a teacher at the university in Victoria, TX. I see Jazz every day during the semester b/c she works in my office suite. She's the best. Thank you for helping.
