Help Jared & Mindy Recover from Devastating Fire

Hi, my name is Noelle Petersen-Leiser. I am fundraising for my brother, Jared Petersen, his wife Mindy Petersen and their family.  Your donation will go to help this family find: shelter, clothing, bedding, food, and personal hygiene as well as pay for some of the costs of removing all of the house.

On Friday, February 25th, their house caught fire. It started on their back patio, and by the time anyone saw it, it was too late. In just minutes, the house was engulfed in flames. However, their three boys, their three pets and Jared and Mindy all made it out safely, aside from a busted-up nose Jared got when rushing to get out as the heat of the fire burned his back.

 

Jared and Mindy are some of the kindest and most generous people. They would give the shirt off their backs to help others. Now the shirts on their backs are all that they have. Please donate here to help them recover from the loss of their home and all of their belongings.

 

The house was a double-wide mobile home, and their insurance does not cover fire, flood, or earthquake. (quick! check your policy.) So they do need our help. However, they have the most challenging time asking for or accepting help. And are so grateful when it is given.

 

Today, I asked them how they were doing; Jared replied, "So good!" They are touched by the kindness that has been shown to them. The neighbors who were there to comfort them, the church that helped them with a hotel room for a week, the family and friends that showed up with love and care. They are grateful to still have what matters most - family, friends, and community.  And somehow in all this chaos, they can see the silver linings. Jared said they have thought about getting rid of some things and now have been forced to become minimalists.  But even minimalists have their basic human needs. (Shelter, clothing, bedding, personal hygiene supplies, etc.)

For transparency: Jared and Mindy are in shock and a bit overwhelmed with everything so I have set up a savings account and will handle the transfer of funds so that they will not need to handle the accepting and transfer of funds while already dealing with so much right now.
