I’ve worked in the food service industry for years, spending long days and nights on my feet and taking pride in serving others. Unfortunately, the deterioration of my hip has made it nearly impossible to manage my career anymore. The pain and limited mobility have not only affected my work, but also made daily life at home with my family and two-year-old son especially hard. I dream of being able to run and play with him as he grows older, and not be sidelined, unable to keep up.
After much deliberation, I’ve come to the difficult decision to ask for help. I need hip replacement surgery, and the recovery will keep me out of work for at least three months. This fundraiser will help cover my medical expenses and support my family while I heal. Most of my friends know I rarely ask for help—maybe to my own detriment. I’m much happier giving someone my shirt, and I’ve done that many times, both literally and figuratively. So to anyone who decides to help me reach my goal, I am forever grateful and hope to return the favor once I’m able-bodied again.
Thank you for considering a donation and for helping me, quite literally, get back on my feet.
